BALTIMORE -- After the Baltimore Orioles repeatedly failed to get a clutch hit, the Texas Rangers got one after another in a big inning that ultimately decided a duel between AL playoff contenders. Ian Kinsler capped a six-run sixth with a bases-loaded double, and the Rangers rolled to an 8-5 victory Monday night to move 15 games over .500 (52-37) for the first time since May 25. "My team is very confident right now," manager Ron Washington said. "We just try to go out every day and play the best game we can. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, but we certainly dont question things. We just try to play good baseball." Kinsler matched his career high with four RBIs, including three in the sixth against former teammate Scott Feldman (0-1) when the Rangers turned a 3-2 deficit into an 8-3 lead. "He came up in that situation and delivered," Washington said of Kinsler. Baltimore, conversely, stranded 10 and went 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position. "The game turned on a big inning, and we were unable to come back from it," Baltimores Adam Jones said. The victory improved Texas road record to 25-18, best in franchise history after 43 games. The Rangers have won seven of their last eight on the road. It was the first game between the teams since Baltimore eliminated Texas from the AL playoffs with a 5-1 win last October. Not counting that defeat, the Rangers have won 11 of 14 against the Orioles. Derek Holland (7-4) allowed five runs, three earned, and 10 hits in 6 2-3 innings for Texas. He struck out Matt Wieters and major-league home run leader Chris Davis three times apiece. "I felt good, everything was good, but for the most part, I really have to pitch better than that," said Holland, who threw a career-high 125 pitches. "The guys gave me some runs and I gave them right back up. Give Wash credit for letting me stay out there. He had confidence in me and I have confidence as well. I just didnt get the job done." Joe Nathan worked a perfect ninth for his 30th save, tied for the AL lead. Wieters homered and Manny Machado had three hits for the Orioles. Davis and Wieters both struck out four times, the last times against Nathan in the ninth. Making his home debut after being obtained in a July 2 trade with the Chicago Cubs, Feldman went up against the team he played with for eight seasons through 2012. The right-hander yielded seven runs and nine hits in 5 1-3 innings. The key, of course, was the sixth. A.J. Pierzynski doubled in a run and Elvis Andrus chased Feldman with an RBI single for a 4-3 lead. Engel Beltre greeted Troy Patton with a run-scoring single before Kinsler doubled into the left-field corner. "That sixth inning was a rough one," the right-hander said. "Made some decent pitches, just seemed like everything they were hitting that inning kind of was like in a great spot." Wieters hit his 12th homer, a two-run drive in the seventh, to get Baltimore to 8-5. The Orioles went 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position over the first three innings, and although they came back to take the lead, the squandered opportunities cost them in the end. "Yeah, we had our chances," Wieters said. "We were able to get guys on with no outs and just couldnt quite get them in." Texas went up 1-0 in the third when Andrus hit a leadoff single and scored on a two-out single by Kinsler. The Rangers added a run in the fourth on an RBI single by Mitch Moreland. Feldman avoided further damage by getting Andrus to hit into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded. Baltimore took a 3-2 lead in the bottom half. A walk, a double and a throwing error by Moreland on Brian Roberts RBI grounder to first base produced two runs, and Machado added a two-out RBI single. With the bases loaded and two outs, Holland struck out Wieters for the third time. NOTES: Texas has scored at least five runs in a season-high five straight games. ... INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- The challenge for Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue in his first full season at the helm isnt just how to direct LeBron James when hes on the court but also figuring out a way to keep the 14-year veteran off it.As Cavs training camp opens this week, Lue said maintaining James, 31, for the long haul is a priority.Ive looked at the schedule, Lue said Wednesday. Just seeing what makes sense and whats smart when playing four-in-five type of nights. Cant run our guys into the ground. We have to be smart, understand we have to take care of our bodies and take care of our key guys. Make sure that when we get to the playoffs were ready to go.The Cavs schedule actually doesnt include any four-games-in-five-nights scenarios as Lue mentioned, but it features plenty of three-in-four obligations as well as two five-in-seven stretches: one from Dec. 20-26 and another from April 4-10, the latter of which will assuredly include rest dates for James as Cleveland prepares for the postseason.James played a career-low 35.6 minutes per game last season, upping that workload in the playoffs to 39.1 minutes per game as he made his sixth straight trip to the Finals en route to winning the championship. This came a year after he took a two-week sabbatical in the middle of the regular season to rest his body and came back looking noticeably refreshed.Considering the way James taking a step back in the regular season the past two years has seemingly allowed him to take two steps forward in the postseason, the four-time MVP was asked whether he has adjusted how he approaches the 82-game grind.I try to make myself available for my teammates every night, and I think Ive had some pretty good coaches over the last few years, with Erik Spoelstra my last couple years there [in Miami] and now Coach Lue has done a great job of just trying to help me take care of my body, James said, because Im very stubborn when it comes to wanting to play.Perhaps saying more through omission, James skipped over David Blatt -- fired at midseason last year and now guiding a team in Turkey -- as he rattled off his recent coaches.[My coaches] also know Ive put a lot of miles on my body ovver the last six years from going to the Finals every single year, so, health and longevity for our team is very important, James continued.dddddddddddd He said its key for the entire staff to keep a close eye on it.The Cavs training staff uses biometrics to monitor its players throughout the season, categorizing each players body as being in the green, yellow or red zone at any given point based on a combination of minutes played, activity on the court, workout, stress, etc. When a player enters the red zone, Lue is advised to sit him out.So it wont be just James whom Lue will keep on a short leash at times. My thing is just making sure guys are healthy, continue to limit LeBrons minutes, and he was at an all-time low last year, Lue said. Watch Kyrie [Irvings] minutes because we know were playing for something big. We know when we get to the playoffs its going to require a lot of minutes, so with those guys and with Kevin [Love], just have to watch guys getting to the red zone.I talked about the red zone last year, and our training staff does a great job of making sure they let me know who is getting close to that. For me, in the playoffs, health is more important than anything. As long as we can get to the playoffs healthy, I will be very excited about that.James went through a personal boot camp last September, practicing three times a day before training camp to try to ready himself. He followed that up by declaring he intended to play all 82 games for the first time in his career. He ended up playing 76 but vowed Wednesday he could have played the full slate.Does he have a game total in mind for this regular season, considering his goal is to reach a seventh straight Finals at the conclusion of it?For me its a mindset, and its getting my body in 82-game fashion, James said. Will I play them all? Hopefully, but if not then ... For me, for my mental [state] to say I can go out and play all 82 because my body feels that good. Last year I talked about it and I couldve done it. So I just have the same mind frame as I had last year. ' ' '
