Indias captain Virat Kohli was impressed with his teams tenacity as they fought back to draw the first Test against England in Rajkot having trailed it for the majority of the contest. With just two defeats in 18 Tests under Kohlis leadership, India have rarely been faced with the challenge of saving a game, especially on home soil. In the circumstances, the captain felt they had adapted well and learnt new skills. The pitch afforded substantial turn and bounce on the final day, with Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali and Zafar Ansari bowling accurately enough to merit five or six close catchers. All this meant the lower-middle order just about managed to get India to safely.Well, at least we know how to draw games now, Kohli who made 49 not out in the second innings, said. Before that, some people obviously were sceptical about our side knowing how to draw games. We won games or we lost games. I spoke with [Ravindra] Jadeja out there that it was an opportunity for both of us to improve on another aspect of the game.Maybe in Test cricket in the future, we will have this situation again. Maybe we will have to apply ourselves again and show character, so have the intent to get runs in between but play percentage cricket, figure out areas where you want to take ones or hit boundaries, but at the same time, be sure of your defense as well. So, it was a challenging situation but one that we countered really well, I thought.Vital to India not falling too far behind was R Ashwin. His first-innings half-century afforded England a lead of only 49 after they had put on 537. Then his 15.2-overs worth of fight with Kohli in the second innings steadied the hosts after they were four down with at least 25 overs left to stumps. We looked at it as an opportunity for us to know how to play in this situation, Kohli said. The best learning is in the game. You can practice all you want in the nets, but only way you know how to make runs is when you understand how they are done. When you are put under pressure, if you bat out the innings, if you play a draw, then you understand as a team when you need to switch gears and trust your defense and slow the game down. Those things are very important to learn as a Test side if you have to be consistent over a period of time and not just a shot in the dark.We took the opportunity and thats why you saw Ashwin and Jadeja applying themselves really well. Otherwise, there would have been a lot more panic if you did not look forward to the situation. It is very important to want to be there. When asked to explain why he chose five bowlers Kohli began by expressing his thoughts on the pitch. I was quite surprised to see that much grass, to be honest. It should not have been the case.Secondly, I thought Ashwin was batting really well, he scored a lot of runs for us this year, so also Saha. Those two are confident, plus its Jadejas home ground. So we backed him to get a few runs for us. That gave an opportunity to play Mishra, an extra spinner. So at least, we had all our bases covered. With five batsmen, we ended up getting close to 500, and even batted out the second innings as well. Again, it gives us belief as a batting unit. So, going ahead, we can still play an extra bowling option and keep putting pressure on the opposition. It was something you can look forward to it or feel that you dont have an extra batsman and go into a negative mindset. I think the guys applied themselves very well.Adding to the theme of learning was DRS. In the final innings, Cheteshwar Pujara was lbw to Rashid off a leg break that pitched outside leg stump. He did not take the review, and when he walked up to his partner for a consultation, M Vijays body language suggested he thought it was out too.One thing I saw was its very important for non-striker to stay as close as possible to the stumps, Kohli said. From a little wider from the stumps, the line of the ball is never judged, you always feel like that the ball is straight but its actually pitching outside the line. So thats what we spoke about, its important to stay close to the stumps, keep figuring out where its pitching and be more aware to help out your partner. That might be an important thing in a Test match in an important situation you might not take the DRS like today with Pujara. Those things can be corrected. With DRS you can only do what is in our control and that is to be precise and as aware as possible. Obviously youre going to make mistakes, the umpires call and all that come into play as well. I think its a good thing, it just confirms the decision that has been made and its good for cricket overall.Javy Guerra Nationals Jersey . -- The plastic that was taped across the lockers in Oaklands clubhouse came down and the champagne that was on ice went back into the cooler. Its the question everyone has been debating over the weekend. The Foxes stunning 3-1 win at title rivals Manchester City has propelled them into a five-point advantage at the top of the Premier League with just 13 games to play. Here, we round up views from across Sky Sports, including those of pundits, managers and journalists, on whether Claudio Ranieris side can go all the way… Thierry Henry, Sky Sports Thierry Henry has been impressed by Leicesters desire At the moment, for me, they are THE team to win it. Not only have they shown they can win it, theyve shown they can cope with the pressure. Theyre top of the league, they go to Manchester City and win the game 3-1 - and easily as well, it could have been four or five. They dont show theyre nervous. We see a good desire. They want to grab it.Claudio Ranieri, Leicester manager Leicester Citys 3-1 win has no significance at all, says Claudio Ranieri I dont believe the bookmakers. At the beginning of the season the bookmakers said, sack Ranieri. I hope one time they are right!Jamie Redknapp, Sky SportsCan Leicester win the league? I dont really believe in miracles but youre starting to believe in this one. The fact theyve got no Europa League, no FA Cup, means its pretty much Saturday-Saturday for them. For Ranieri that must be a joy. He can just keep them ticking over, there hasnt got to be too much training.Leicester have got every chance, and its almost becoming theres to lose.Alan Smith, Sky Sports They absolutely wiped the floor with Manchester City. Alan Smith Its right that they should be considered favourites. You beat Liverpool at home in fine style and then a few days later you go to the Etihad and do what they did to what were then the title favourites. They absolutely wiped the floor with City.Manuel Pellegrini, Man City manager Manuel Pellegrinis Man City have lost significant ground to Leicester If Leicester continue playing the way they are [then they are favourites for the title]. There are 13 games more so its difficult to predict.Oliver Kay, The TimesA lot of people, including Pellegrini, says this is happening because all the Premier League teams have a lot of money now and can buy top players.I have to say that is disingenuous. This is Leicester, theyre not shopping in the same markets as Swansea and Southampton, let alone the top clubs. They are out-performing, out-thinking, out-fighting, out-running teams who have got enormously bigger budgets. This isnt just a levelling out of the Premier League, this is a team doing something absolutely exceptional. John Dillon thinks there is a lot of substance behind Leicesters title push Graeme Souness, Sky Sports Im as amazed as anyone.dddddddddddd From November, December youre expecting Leicester to drop off the pace. Fair play. Graeme Souness Im as amazed as anyone. From November, December youre expecting Leicester to drop off the pace, they dont have the biggest squad and the way they play football - they give the ball away more than any other team - which means you have to work hard to get it back and expend a lot of energy.Like everyone else, Im amazed. But I never saw them involved in a bad game last year. This year theyve turned those draws and losses into wins. Fair play.Garry Monk, former Swansea boss Garry Monk has been impressed by Leicesters approach Its an unbelievable story and great for the league. Its all on merit as well. Its not like theyre getting lucky or hanging on in any of the games. They have won every single game on merit.Theres only two games theyve lost all season. Whats clear in the way they play is they know exactly who they are and what their jobs are. Its very organised and they dont pretend to be something else or try anything else. They do exactly what they know they can do and its obviously very effective. The way they are playing, you cant put it past them going on a winning run again and maintaining what they are doing. The fact is, the difference between them and the other teams that are up there is its a bonus for them. The others are expected to be there and expected to win. They are playing without fear because its a bonus for them.Ian Ladyman, Daily Mail Daily Mail football editor Ian Ladyman thinks Leicesters success is helping Tottenham [Ranieri] certainly is in manager of the year territory. Finishing in the top four isnt a given, but from where they are, that has to happen now. I think from that point on he will start to think about winning the league. He suffered at Chelsea because he didnt look and sound like people expected a Premier League manager to look and sound. Hes showing now that he knows what hes doing.Saturdays game was absolutely uplifting. It really was. From a neutral point of view, the way they played, the belief they showed, the goals they scored, the commitment they showed… If that dressing room didnt believe beforehand that they can win the title, they definitely will believe it now, because that was a Championship-winning performance.Paul Merson, Sky Sports Paul Merson is expecting Arsenal to beat Leicester next weekend No [they cant win the title] because if Arsenal beat them next week theyre two points behind them - thats how quickly it changes. Theyre top four, and Ive just written Manchester United off today [Saturday]. I dont think Manchester United win the league now.Watch Arsenal v Leicester and Man City v Tottenham live on Sky Sports 1 HD on Sunday, or watch for £6.99 without a contract, on NOW TVAlso See:First-time title winnersRanieri: Dont look downArsenal new title favouritesUlloa: Everything is possible ' ' '
