(Sports Network) - The Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks both will try to gain the lead in the Stanley Cup Final on Monday, as the clubs battle in Game 3 at TD Garden. Listen to the game live on TSN 1050 and TSN 690, tonight at 8pm et/5pm pt. The Bruins and Blackhawks are tied at 1-1 in this best-of-seven series after splitting a pair of overtime games in Chicago. The Blackhawks won Wednesdays opener 4-3 in triple overtime, but Boston bounced back with a 2-1 OT win in Saturdays Game 2 at United Center. Boston, the Easts fourth seed, is 7-2 as the host team in these playoffs and has won six straight at TD Garden since dropping Game 5 of the first round against Toronto on May 10. The Bruins also get to host Game 4 on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Chicago, this years Presidents Trophy winners, has posted a 3-4 record as the guest during this postseason. Boston earned a split in Chicago after Daniel Paille scored at 13:48 of overtime to give the Bruins a 2-1 win on Saturday. A wraparound from behind the Chicago net along the right boards wasnt handled by the Blackhawks Brandon Bollig, and Bostons Adam McQuaid was able to push the puck down to Tyler Seguin. From the mid-boards, Seguin fired the puck over to the slot, where Paille ripped it home into the right corner for the win. Paille also had the assist on Chris Kellys goal that tied the contest in the second period and Tuukka Rask was strong in a sloppy first period for Boston and finished the game with 33 saves. "If you look at our game I thought we werent there at first," said Boston head coach Claude Julien. "We started to get better as the game went on, but Tuukka bailed us out. I told our guys that we have to show up for these games from the start or were going to get into trouble." Rask kept the score at 1-0 in the first period despite his team getting outshot 19-4 in the opening 20 minutes. He has turned aside 92-of-97 shots in the first two games of this series and is boasting a stout .944 save percentage in this years playoffs. "Well, we definitely were in survival mode there for a bit," said Rask. "It looked like they had more guys out there than we did. They were bouncing on every single puck in front of net, had a lot of chances. We definitely played pretty bad." Patrick Sharp scored the only goal on Saturday for the Blackhawks in the first period, and Corey Crawford made 26 stops in the loss. Chicago had won Game 1 by a score of 4-3 in triple-overtime after rallying from a two-goal deficit in the third period, but failed to repeat the magic as the team lost for just the second time at home in 12 playoff games. It was the second straight season that Games 1 and 2 were decided in an extra session, as the Kings took two at New Jersey en route to last years Cup title. "Its like the second period, I thought we lost the pace of the game on that end of the rink," said Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville. "We had the perfect start to the game, then we stopped doing what made us successful. We stood around, they countered." Boston was 0-for-2 on the power play while Chicago went 0-for-3. This series marks the first time Original Six franchises have met in the Stanley Cup Finals since 1979, when Montreal defeated the New York Rangers in five games. This years Cup Finals also is a battle between recent champions. Boston beat Vancouver in 2011 to win the Cup, while Chicago took down Philadelphia the year before to win it all. This was no night to go to sleep. STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Despite the new carpet and windows, faster elevators and some fresh paint, Beaver Stadiums press box still shakes and rattles when Penn State is rolling. It swayed early and often on Saturday night as the No. 12 Nittany Lions hammered Iowa 41-14 in front of more than 106,000 fans, buzzing with Top 25 football back in Happy Valley. An even bigger face lift has come on the field, where Penn States offense looks nothing like the woeful units that sputtered in James Franklins first two years. This group, led by the twin rushing attack of Saquon Barkley and Trace McSorley, is on fire.If you want to stop the run and you come at me, you give Trace an opportunity to beat you with his feet and if you try to stop us both, you give him a chance to beat you on the outside in the passing game, Barkley said.Barkley accounted for 211 all-purpose yards, scored two touchdowns and McSorley completed 11 of 18 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns. McSorley added 40 rushing yards and another score on 14 carries for the Nittany Lions, who won their fifth straight Big Ten game for the first time since 2011.The Nittany Lions (7-2, 5-1 Big Ten, No. 20 AP) scored on seven of 11 possessions and kept the pressure on after leading 24-7 at halftime.I think as you guys know, we spent a lot of time in the offseason studying different schemes, different offenses, Penn State coach James Franklin said. This is kind of how we envisioned it, and obviously when youve got a guy like Saquon Barkley, he changes things for everybody.Barkley scored on a 57-yard run in the first half and caught a 44-yard touchdown pass in the second. Receiver Saeed Blacknall also caught a touchdown for the Nittany Lions and Tyler Davis kicked two field goals as the Nittany Lions became bowl-eligible.Backup quarterback Tommy Stevens, himself a vaunted runner who competed with McSorley for the starting job in training camp, got in on the action. He capped the game with a 13-yard touchdown run on a jet sweep, capping it by blasting his way through two defenders at the goal line.C.J. Beathard completed 18 of 26 passes for 204 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for the Hawkeyes (5-4, 3-3). He was sacked four times. Running back Akrum Wadley caught a touchdown for Iowa and Jerrminic Smith hauled in another with 6:30 to play, but it was too little, too late.ddddddddddddTheyre a completely different team than they were in September, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said.THIRD DOWNS A CHARMThe Nittany Lions entered the game converting just 25.2 percent of their third downs. They completed 7 of 14 in this one and gave Iowas offense fits in the same situations. The Hawkeyes converted just 2 of 10 third downs and linebacker Jason Cabinda set the tone early. On third-and-2, Beathard kept the ball and tried to leap over a pile. Cabinda met him in midair, knocking him backward where fellow linebacker Brandon Bell finished him off.RUSH DThe Hawkeyes entered the game boasting a nice two-headed rushing attack of their own. Wadley and LeShun Daniels had shared reps with good results. They combined for three 100-plus yard performances apiece over the last three games but were held to a combined 46 by Penn States aggressive front seven.Iowa finished with 30 rushing yards altogether on 26 carries. We talked about how physical this game was going to be up front, I think weve proved that we can match up with people, Franklin said. Holding that team to 30 yards rushing? (Thats) big time. Big time.THE TAKEAWAYIowa: The Hawkeyes hopes of competing for the West Division title for a second straight year took a big hit with No. 8 Wisconsin and Minnesota -- both two-loss teams coming into the week -- winning on Saturday. The Hawkeyes still have to face Michigan and Nebraska. A trip to Illinois two weeks from now will be Iowas best shot at bowl eligibility.Penn State: The Nittany Lions look like a completely different team than the one that began the season. The offense is clicking, the defense is formidable and the schedule should be relatively easy the rest of the way. Penn States remaining opponents are a combined 9-18 and only Indiana has a winning record.POLL IMPLICATIONSPenn States well-rounded play coupled with losses bodes well for their chances to move up a few spots.UP NEXTIowa: Hosts Michigan (9-0, 6-0) in a prime-time game at Kinnick Stadium.Penn State: Pays at Indiana (5-4, 3-3) where the Nittany Lions are 7-1.
