You wont find San Antonios veteran-laden roster or its venerable coach pushing any panic buttons just because the Spurs have lost three games in a row at home. But theres certainly something amiss with one of the NBAs most consistent teams. The Spurs will look to get back on track Friday night against the Detroit Pistons at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. The three-game home losing streak is just San Antonios second in the past seven seasons and first since December 2014 when it lost three straight home games in overtime. It has been since Jan. 19-31, 2002, early in the second year of the George W. Bushs first term as President since the Spurs have lost four straight at home. When games are 80, 90, 100 points, there are a lot of mistakes both ways, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said Wednesday after a 101-99 loss to Houston. If you win the game, you made a lot of mistakes; if you lose the game, you made a lot of mistakes.San Antonio (5-3) has seven new players on its roster and its taking a while for all the pieces to fit together with the seamless efficiency the Spurs regularly employ. It hasnt helped that starting guards Tony Parker and Danny Green havent played together yet this season. Green missed the first seven games with a left quad injury and Parker was held out for the third straight game and fourth time this season on Wednesday against Houston because of right knee soreness. Hes questionable for Fridays game. Were trying to figure out who we want to have on the court and who should be together, Popovich explained. We obviously havent figured that out yet. The effort is there and the willingness is there. So over time, making things more habitual and more organized will help us.Detroit (4-4) might be the perfect opponent at this point of the season for San Antonio. The Pistons have been impressive and are undefeated at home, but they have are 0-4 away from the Detroit suburbs. They come into the Alamo City off a 107-100 loss at Phoenix on Wednesday.Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored a season-high 27 points for the Pistons and Andre Drummond had 18 points and 14 rebounds for Detroit, which lost to the Los Angeles Clippers by 32 points on Monday.Drummond has the most double-doubles in the NBA (119) since the beginning of the 2014-15 season. Thats 17 more than runner-up Pau Gasol, who now plays for San Antonio. We gave the game away, Drummond said of the loss to Phoenix. We came back in the fourth quarter with some strong plays. Then, after a timeout, we didnt come back with the energy we had to get us back in the game. It got them going and the rest is kind of history. The Pistons went 0-2 against the Spurs last season. The teams will play one more time this season, at Detroit on Feb. 10. The Pistons have lost three of the last five games against the Spurs in San Antonio and six of the last nine overall to the Spurs.San Antonio leads the all-time series between the teams with 53 wins in 86 games.Edson Alvarez Jersey . Hurricanes coach Mark Richt said Kaaya was shut down from throwing earlier this week, though that restriction was no longer in place when the team practiced Tuesday morning. He zipped the ball well, Richt said. I really dont think there was an issue. He practiced the whole way.Running back Mark Walton suggested otherwise, though said he believes Kaaya will be out there Saturday. He was shut down a little bit today in practice, Walton said. When he was throwing the ball, I think he was very accurate at times. Hes just coming on slowly but surely on getting his shoulder back together.Kaaya -- who had a tooth broken on one of the multiple hits to the head he took in last weekends loss -- was not available Tuesday to clear the confusion and discuss his status. Richt is not allowing him to meet with media this week, an unusual move given Kaayas team-leader status and Miamis long tradition of having its starting quarterback speak during game week.Ill be in there, Kaaya said last weekend, referring to the North Carolina game. The Tar Heels expect the same, especially given the stakes.Miami (4-1, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) and North Carolina (4-2, 2-1) are both looking up at Virginia Tech (4-1, 2-0) and Virginia (2-3, 1-0) in the Coastal Division race. And though its early, the loser of the Hurricanes-Tar Heels game Saturday would already have two losses in league play and little marrgin for error the rest of the way.ddddddddddddI would imagine hell play, so well prepare that way, North Carolina coach Larry Fedora said.Kaaya wont have right tackle Sunny Odogwu to help protect him this week, and probably not for the rest of the season. Odogwu is having surgery Wednesday to repair a lower leg injury.BADGLEY UNFAZEDMiami kicker Michael Badgley, whose potentially game-tying extra point with 1:38 left was blocked by Florida States DeMarcus Walker, seems unfazed by the miss.Asked what went wrong on the extra point -- snap, hold or kick -- Badgley said it was an execution thing on all parts of the field. All parts of the offense, defense, its a lot of things, Badgley said. To blame it all on one play, or go in on something like that, its kind of ridiculous. Footballs a team sport. Its how it always has been.Badgley had a PAT blocked and missed a short field goal in Miamis 2014 loss to Florida State at home as well -- a game the Hurricanes lost by four points. You could look back in the past all you want, Badgley said. Yesterdays home runs dont win todays games, I guess.PRESIDENTS MESSAGEMiami had a surprise guest at practice Tuesday. University President Dr. Julio Frenk addressed the team, something that even Richt didnt know was going to happen.Richt said Frenk wanted to talk about how much he appreciated the moment Saturday night. He saw the big picture, Richt said. He saw the fans. He saw the students. He saw the band. He saw the excitement and the passion. He saw the best of what we can be and he just wanted to tell the guys he appreciated it.---AP Sports Writer Joedy McCreary in Chapel Hill, North Carolina contributed to this report. ' ' '
