1. The Cowboys without Johnathan Thurston.Weve the Cowboys emerge this year as premiership threats again and they made a great statement against the Bulldogs last week but I am interested to see how they go without Johnathan Thurston. He generally makes the plays, comes up with the kicks and opposition teams that come up against the Cowboys with JT in it are probably a little bit scared so I think Thurston missing is obviously a huge loss for North Queensland.I think Jake Granville will have to do more running but Michael Morgan will now be the key playmaker so in theory, wherever he is, that is where the ball is going to go so itll be interesting to see if there is any change or whether the Cowboys just continue to roll on.There used to be a time that if Thurston was out then the Cowboys couldnt win but they have matured into a different side now and are the complete package.I think well see the forwards step up - Matt Scott, James Tamou and Jason Taumololo will be thinking the result hinges on them but I get the impression we wont see the perfect execution of set plays and kicks the Cowboys enjoy with JT.?If the Cowboys are to win - theyll win it from a different area and not in the halves.2. Tuimoala Lolohea finally gets the Warriors No.1 jumper back.I am amazed how he doesnt get a starting spot week in, week out. The Warriors were on a winning streak when he was starring at five-eighth or the fullback. He hasnt started for a number of weeks and the Warriors havent won a game of football for a number of weeks, the coach Andrew McFadden has his job on the line and I think the fact that Tuimoala Lolohea is in the side now makes me fell confident about the Warriors. When he played a number of weeks ago he got Man of the Match and Shaun Johnson also looked so happy playing with him. I think Lolohea is the shining light for that Warriors football side.Lolohea is a star in the making, a young kid, a fullback, a five-eighth and he just offers so much difference and he can come up with match-winning plays and has that little bit of X-factor that many other footy players dont have. The Warriors need to be careful because this is why kids leave footy clubs; because they feel like they arent being treated with respect and in the end they go somewhere where they feel wanted.3. NRL Retro Round reminds me of my childhood.I dont know how many players that wouldve been thinking about wearing the old shoulder pads, kicking off sand or just going back to the loose fitting jerseys or even growing a moustache or a mullet but itll be interesting to see if any players participate in the Retro Round.Weve seen a number of old jerseys over the past week in promotion of it reminds me of being a kid; the old North Sydney jersey, the big cotton jumpers - loose fitting, not tight fitting - its brought back some great memories of my childhood. Some of those images of those players in the 70s and 80s make me think back to being a kids when I thought that was the norm and now Im an adult I laugh at some of the fashions and traditions that we had.I believe Graeme Hughes is also doing the commentary of the Sunday afternoon game at Brookvale which is a great initiative and nice to see everyone getting behind it.The fans of our game cover a lot of different age groups and when I was a kid 20 or 30 years ago when we thought nothing of some of those images we are seeing now but these days its hilarious. Burris threw two TD passes, including a key 15-yard fourth-quarter strike to Bakari Grant that effectively countered a Toronto comeback bid and led Hamilton to a 33-19 victory. Tracy McGrady Jersey . But now that hes in the NHL, the Calgary Flames centre showed big improvement in that department by scoring the winner in the eighth round of a 5-4 shootout victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday. MONTREAL -- A good start has turned into a distant memory for the Vancouver Canucks. The Montreal Canadiens are looking to avoid falling into a similar trap. After surprising many with a 4-0 start -- allowing just- five goals in that stretch -- the Canucks (4-4-1) have dropped their last five games while being outscored 18-7. Now, the team embarks on a season-high six-game road trip that will take them through the Eastern Conference over the next 11 days. And it will begin against the Canadiens, winners of seven straight and, at 8-0-1, the only NHL team without a regulation loss. Its a huge game for us against Montreal. Theyre playing well and its going to take a full team effort to get past them, Canucks captain Henrik Sedin said. The team headed out on the trip with nine defensemen in tow, including Chris Tanev, who is inching closer to a return after missing the past three games with injury. Tanev took part in Tuesdays practice in Montreal, rotating with rookie Troy Stecher, who has filled in on the top pairing with Alex Edler. But his presence in Wednesday nights line-up was uncertain, according to coach Willie Desjardins.Grinding wingers Alexandre Burrows and Derek Dorsett appear to be on the verge of drawing back in after missing the past four games. But while the Canucks will gladly welcome the energetic forwards, the team is hoping for more offense from its top six to get out of its current funk.Left winger Loui Eriksson, who signed as a free agent in the offseason, has yet to score through nine games and has just four assists to his credit. On Tuesday, he moved from the top line with Henrik and Daniel Sedin to the second line with Brandon Sutter and Markus Granlund. All players go throough slumps and all you can do is dig in and know that youre a good player and know with what you did before that you can score, Eriksson told the Vancouver Province.dddddddddddd Its a matter of getting the mindset to be hungry and shoot the puck more.Theyll be looking to do so against a healthy Carey Price, who has won all five of his starts so far, becoming the fourth goaltender in NHL history to win his first five games in consecutive seasons. As expected, his return has been key to Montreals early season success. But the team knows all too well how quickly it can change.Last year, the Canadiens stormed through the first nine games with a 9-0-0 record before ultimately seeing their streak snapped against the Canucks (in Vancouver). A couple of games later, Price was injured for the first time in what eventually turned into a season that spiraled out of control.Montreal is coming off a 2-1 against the Maple Leafs on Saturday night, marking the first time this season that they havent scored at least three goals in a game.Everything appears to be running smoothly for the Habs, including its once-maligned power play. With another strike on the man advantage on Saturday, the Canadiens have now scored power-play goals in four straight games, and in seven of their nine games so far this season. We work on it quite a bit in practice and with video, defenseman Jeff Petry said. I think the main thing that sticks out in my mind is that were moving the puck quickly and taking the shots when theyre there. The more you shoot the puck, the better the results are going to be.
