WEST POINT, N.Y. -- To start his third season at West Point, coach Jeff Monken duplicated his first game at Army -- in spades.Last weeks season-opening 28-13 win over Temple at Lincoln Financial Field was a breakthrough moment of sorts for the Black Knights: it obliterated the memory of their previous game there, a 21-17 loss in December to archrival Navy that ended Armys second 2-10 season in four years; was their first win in 13 tries at the home of the Philadelphia Eagles; and it came against a team that had a breakout 10-win season in 2015.The thing that I was probably most pleased with was that at no point in the game did I feel that our guys lacked the confidence to win, that they were concerned or worried about what might happen next, Monken said.Army will try to build on that success when it hosts Rice on Saturday at Michie Stadium. These Owls also dropped their season opener, 46-14 at Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers finished with 552 yards passing and 97 rushing, amassing 649 yards. Rice failed to put pressure on quarterback Mike White and had only 288 total yards offensively in a sloppy game. They all tried to do more than theyre capable of at times, Rice coach David Bailiff said. They just have to relax and play, and were going to be just fine. Well get it worked out. The great news is that it wasnt an effort thing.Other things to know when Rice visits Army on Saturday:DROP THISTyler Stehling is the starting quarterback for Rice for the first time in his career. He threw for 183 yards and ran for 85 yards and a score against Western Kentucky. He also threw two interceptions and his receivers faltered badly. We had six drops, or he (Stehling) could have had a magnificent night, Bailiff said. Weve got to eliminate those drops. Everybody is going to drop a couple, but you cant drop six.TURNOVERS RULEThe Army defense enters the game with three interceptions, half its total for all of last season. The Black Knights lead the nation in turnover margin, tied with seven other schools. Last season, Army finished 113th (-0.92) in that category.KEEP IT ON THE GROUNDThe Army option gained 329 yards rushing against Temple on 67 attempts and scored four touchdowns. Monken wants to get 1,000 yards rushing from the quarterback spot, but the fullbacks starred against Temple. Andy Davidson had 121 yards on 21 carries to pace the attack.IS THIS THE YEAR?Army has had only one winning season -- 7-6 in 2010 under Rich Ellerson -- since Bob Sutton led the Black Knights to a 10-2 mark and a national ranking 20 years ago.WIN STREAKRice has beaten Army five straight times, including all three meetings at West Point.---AP college football website: www.collegefootball.ap.org---Follow Kekis on Twitter: www.twitter.com/Greek1947Cheap Salomon Shoes Free Shipping . JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Floridas first game as a ranked team in more than two years was a success.Dallas Moore tried to wreck it.Chris Chiozza had 16 points and nine assists off the bench, and the 24th-ranked Gators handled North Florida 91-60 on the road Thursday despite Moores big night.I like this gym a lot, Chiozza said. We shoot really well in here. Its like playing in a high school gym. I think we were all good shooters in high school.Florida (7-1) scored 38 points in the paint, 38 off turnovers, made 9 of 19 shots from 3-point range and finished with 51 bench points. The Gators used their best shooting performance of the season (58.5 percent) to score their most points since their last game against the Ospreys (3-6).Coach Mike Whites team hit 16 3s and won at UNF 97-68 in the first round of the NIT in March. You should have played all your road games here the way you shot the ball, North Florida coach Matthew Driscoll told White as they crossed paths in the postgame interview room.Justin Leon added 13 points for the Gators, who improved to 6-0 against UNF. Canyon Barry chipped in 12 points, and Devin Robinson finished with 10 points and six rebounds.North Florida had just two assists and 20 turnovers, and really would have been in trouble without Moore. The schools all-time leading scorer finished with 31 points on 12-of-21 shooting. He kept the Ospreys in the game early but couldnt keep pace with Floridas balanced attack. If you have or havent seen him play, welcome to tonight, Driscoll said. Hes a special talent.Moore hit 6 of 12 from behind the arc. His teammates were 0 for 10 from 3-point range.Hes very deceptive, Chiozza said. He doesnt look too fast, too quick, but hes got a good change of speed and hes real crafty, especially when he gets in the paint.Still, Floridas depth proved too much for North Floridas one-man show.Whites second team is more talented and sshowed it could handle a little extra attention.dddddddddddd The Gators entered The Associated Press Top 25 on Monday for the first time since November 2014.It wasnt one of our better performances so I cant say we did a great job playing with a ton of maturity, White said. But its not all negative. There were some positives.BIG PICTUREFlorida: The Gators look much improved from the last two seasons, but bigger tests come next week against No. 5 Duke at Madison Square Garden and then at in-state rival Florida State. Winning either of those surely would boost Floridas NCAA Tournament resume.North Florida: Romelo Banks, a 6-foot-11 center who missed all of last season following two foot surgeries, gives the Ospreys a much-needed presence in the paint. But its clear Driscoll hasnt filled the scoring void left with the graduation of Beau Beech, Trent Mackey and Demarcus Daniels.KEY SUSPENSIONDriscoll announced after the game that senior Chris Davenport has been suspended indefinitely due to team policy. The coach declined to reveal any further information about Davenports absence. Its a big loss since the 6-8 forward is averaging 7.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists.POLL IMPLICATIONSThe Gators could move up in the next Top 25 poll and have a chance to make a significant leap after the next two games.UP NEXTFlorida plays the fifth-ranked Blue Devils on Tuesday in the Jimmy V Classic in New York City, their first meeting since the 2000 NCAA Tournament. It was one of the biggest wins in Floridas program history.North Florida continues a brutal, three-game stretch by traveling to No. 22 Syracuse on Saturday.
