ABUJA Jordan Hicks Shirt , Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria's national soccer team coach Stephen Keshi on Thursday reacted swiftly to his sack and said he accepted it in good fate.


"It is about time for me to move on. This is not the end of the world for me," Keshi told Abuja-based local online newspaper Premium Times, while reacting to his sack by the newly elected Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board.


Keshi's dismissal on Thursday did not come as a shock to many, despite a home win against Sudan which kept Nigeria in the running to defend their African title. The local football federation said former coach of the Super Eagles, Shuaibu Amodu Nelson Agholor Shirt , would take temporary charge before a foreign coach is appointed.


Keshi said it was time to move on, but still keeps mum on his next move. The ex-player and coach is said to be considered for a number of coaching jobs within and outside Africa after he led Nigeria to lift the trophy at the 2013 African Cup of Nations tournament hosted by South Africa.


He led the same team to the 2013 FIFA Confederation Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup both held in Brazil, among other successes.


But his performance and choice of players in the last 12 matches played by the Super Eagles had made him unpopular among local football fans. His team had lost five, drawn five and won only two of their last 12 matches.


Among other reasons for his dismissal, a top football official said Keshi was relieved of his job as it dawned on the football administrators that the coach was struggling to qualify Nigeria for the 2015 AFCON Sidney Jones Shirt , and has so far recorded a home and away defeat in Calabar and Sudan respectively.


In spite of the sack, Keshi and his former assistants, Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorounmu, are expected to proceed for a coaching course, fully funded by the NFF Derek Barnett Shirt , in any country of their choice.
